Maple wood has two main types: sugar (hard and hot burning) or red (soft and quick burning). Long burning maple wood is great for heating home fireplaces or barbecues, but should not be used as kindling.
Maple trees typically grow in hardwood forests in the North and Northeastern part of the U.S. Reaching up to 60 feet in height, maple trees are best known for their syrup-producing abilities, but they can also make excellent firewood if cured properly. Maple firewood is excellent for burning in wood stoves, and best recommended for home or restaurant wood-fired ovens due to its great coals and consistent temperature.
